AIESEC AustinBOARD OF ADVISORS (2010 to 2018)
AIESEC is an international organization dedicated to helping college students discover their leadership potential. Local, student-run AIESEC chapters connect members with professional internships, volunteer work, and organizational management opportunities. To date, over one million students and recent graduates have successfully been through the program. Mark Bergeron discovered the organization years ago through a close friend, back when he was a student attending Louisiana State University. As a finance graduate, he was matched to a traineeship in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, working with Coopers & Lybrand (the predecessor to PricewaterhouseCoopers). After earning his CPA degree, he returned to the United States to work with KPMG. Today, Mark Bergeron serves on the Board of Advisors for the local chapter hosted by The University of Texas at Austin. He credits his AIESEC experience for launching his entire career, and is honored to give back by helping to develop the budding leaders he has met through the program. Imagine A WayDONOR (2012 to 2017)
Imagine A Way is an Austin, TX-based non-profit that helps families of children diagnosed with Autism afford the high cost of critical therapeutic care and services. Until a cure is found, children between ages 2 and 7 are most at risk if they do not receive therapy, but the recommended comprehensive set of services often amounts to upwards of $50K per year, a cost too high for many families to bear. The team at Imagine A Way sponsors individual families based in Austin to help fund all or some of the care for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Mark Bergeron has worked in government with Carolyn Price, co-founder of Imagine A Way, for twenty years. Mark has also been personally touched by autism, so it's important to him to support an organization like Imagine A Way that's making a real difference to real people living with autism in the Austin community.
